Adding PD to an existing install of PIM

Summary:

We're trying add PD to an existing install of PIM in which the Inventory Organizations (Usage = Inventory Management) are pointing back to themselves as their own Item Master Organizations.  Items have already been set up and used for Procurement and Inventory purposes in one of these Inventory Orgs using PIM.  We’re now attempting to deploy Product Development but aren’t able to define or maintain items there.  We suspect that this is due to the fact that there’s no organization defined where the Usage = Item Management.  Is there any way to add the Item Management classification to the existing
