What is the use of Freeze option in Supplier site and supplier address, and why is it disabled.

Summary:

I was on the manage supplier page and was navigating through the different sections. In Supplier site, supplier address and contacts there is an option to Freeze. I wanted to understand the functionality of this option. Also, this option is greyed out, how can I enable this option.

I have attached the snapshot of the page I am referring to for better understanding of the case. As visible the Freeze option is greyed out in both.
