Merge Row Header cell with Text Data Cells

Summary: I have long Heading in a row which is wrapping in the Fixed Column Width option. So when I try to Merge with a Data Cell (empty cells in a text Row), the Merge option is greyed out when selecting Header Cell and Data Cell together and right click. The same is working in FR reports. We cannot make the Column width to "minimum" since we only have few long texts in the column and would waste a lot of space in the report. I like to know if there is any work around for this issue.
