Text String to Number Function in Management Reporting

Summary:

We have a report requirement for which I need a substring of a number from a member name to use in a formula in the report. Is there any way to achieve this within the report? I can use the "Right" text function to get the text I need from the member name but the formula won't recognize it since it is text. Any function that does String to Number within the report itself? I see how to do this in a member formula but wondering if I am missing something as a way to achieve
