How to pass query LOWER () function in filter criteria in SDP variable

Hi Experts

I'm calling fusion REST API which support below query parameter as provided below but I'm not getting how to pass the same in filter criteria in case of SDP variable. I cannot use q parameter as I have pagination and other conditions as well in filter criteria, i want to pass this query param using filter criteria only

q=UPPER(firstName) LIKE UPPER('%ex%')
