Upgraded Oracle Linux Instance Fails to Register with OSMH

Symptoms

An OCI instance that was upgraded using Leapp can fail to register with OS Management Hub when using the Console. When you enable the OS Management Hub agent plugin, the Console presents registration profiles matching the OS version from when the instance was created, not the upgraded OS version.

In this case, there had already been an attempt to register the instance with OSMH by selecting the profile for the previous version of the OS, which then resulted in 'Registration Failed'.

Changes

Instance upgrade to a more recent major version of Oracle Linux via Leapp.
