Does Oracle provided oracle.jbo.Validation Exception works in Global function (Called in Rules)

Content (please ensure you mask any confidential information): We have Item Rules (Validation and Assignment Rule) which invokes Global Function using InvokeGlobalFunction method. So we do have a scenario where we need to display error message from the response from REST API call for Items in Product Development (PD). So, using this oracle.jbo.ValidationException is giving an error.

Can anyone suggest what can we do for runtime message to show in the PD screen ?
