Update Customer Promotion and Volume Based Program Accrual calculation

Summary:

Requirement -

Let's say, Customer Promotion Program is defined for an item with 2% accruals.

Now, after few months, it was identified that correct accrual is 3%.

This may happen frequently.

Question -

  1. How do we update accrual calculation from 2 to 3% in existing programs? This is applicable for both Customer Promotions and Volume Based Programs.
  2. How the system can automatically adjust the accruals earned for the previous months when accruals were earned at 2% instead of 3%?

If there is no standard out of the box solution, then any suggestions for workaround?
