Applies to:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Linux x86-64

Goal:

The process of creating an OCI instance based on a Platform image, or a custom image based on a Platform image, performs multiple setup steps and validations. This is done for multiple reasons, including to ensure the sanity and security of the environment when creating a new instance.

As a consequence, any custom image created from an Oracle Linux Platform image, where an ssh-key has been added to the root user, or where Password Authentication has been enabled for the SSH server will see those changes reverted in a new instance created from such a custom image.

Howdy, Stranger!
