Linux Instance Unable to Complete Boot and Reports Error “Unrecognized mount option umask”

Symptoms:
OCI Linux Instance is unable to complete the boot process and reports following errors in the console log:
Mounting /app_tmp... [ 6.020748] EXT4-fs (sda4): Unrecognized mount option "umask=0000" or missing value [FAILED] Failed to mount /app_tmp. See 'systemctl status app_tmp.mount' for details. [DEPEND] Dependency failed for Local File Systems. [DEPEND] Dependency failed for Relabel all filesystems, if necessary. [DEPEND] Dependency failed for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure agent updater. [DEPEND] Dependency failed for Oracle Cloud ...t for management and monitoring. [DEPEND] Dependency failed for Migrate local... structure to the new structure.
