How to distinguish between HR vs Finance BU? Can we have different number of BU for Hr and just one BU for Finance?

We are implementing Oracle HCM and ERP both for a client. On the HR side, we have proposed Business Units based on their lines of business (more than 10). Employees will be hired into a legal entity and can be assigned any of the defined business units.

 

From Finance perspective, Business Units are Operating Units and Subledger transaction are administered and secured by Business units. Business Units also needs to be assigned to a Ledger, so that the transactions performed on a Business Unit gets posted to a Ledger. The proposed HR business units would mean replicating each of the 18 Business units across each Ledger and Country. For these reasons finance team’s recommendation is to have just have
