Using Lookup tables for Long Text Fields in Custom Object program

I am looking to solve is how to update long text fields in a CDO record without having to use a form processing step. The ideal solution would be to use a lookup table for large text fields.

The reason I need this is when a contact fills out a form, we supplement their form data with business information.

Current state: the fields are populated via a processing step or a lookup table.

We don’t want to use processing steps anymore since it’s not scalable and the large number of processing steps we add slow down the forms and sometimes cause them to crash.
