Can we Remap employee for the user record

Summary:

Hi Team,

There is a contact employee converted as Permanent.

Now we want to replace the employee name from contract name to permanent (having two different employee number series)

User Name - tapaskumar.sathua@gmail.com
Contract Employee - Sathua, TapasKumar ( # 1234567)
Permanent Employee - Sathua, Tapas Kumar (# 200101)

Can we remap the employee name for the existing user record in security console ?

Due to this PO approval is getting stuck.
