What implications have to merge customers in AR?

I need to merge one customer to another in AR, so all the pending transactions are not lost

I need to end-date one customer account, so what my team is planning is to end the customer and create a new one, so we can execute the Merge Customer process (which I found in documentation ).

However, we need to know what consequences will this have, since we want all transactions for the first customer to be transfered to the new one. Is this possible?
