Linux: How To Authenticate docker/Podman CLI Using Auth Token Feature in Oracle Container Registry

edited Feb 5, 2025 12:52PM in Linux

Applies to:

Linux OS

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Goal

This document provides details about Auth Token feature in Oracle Container Registry and how to generate, delete etc.

Solution

Oracle Container Registry provides Auth tokens feature, that enables, the user to authenticate in docker/podman cli alternative to the SSO password. This feature allows the Oracle Container Registry user to manage the auth token from Oracle Container Registry UI login.

The Auth token manage operations include the generate, delete etc. The Auth Token and Secret Key are interchangeably used. The generated token is used for docker/podman cli operations, and by this it removes the need of supplying the SSO password.

Howdy, Stranger!
