ESS API to submit job or retrieve job output in non-default format

I am looking for a way to retreive a non-default formatted output for an ESS job through an API. I need to submit the actual parent ESS job that runs the BI report for traceability purposes. EX: Default output is HTML, I want XLSX output

Is there an API that exists that allows me to do one of the following things:

1) Submit an ESS job with an Asynchronous API call to set the specific report output to be the non-default output type.
2) Submit an API call to retrieve a non-default output type from an already completed ESS job.

Any help on this matter would be appreciated, even if no options exist, a confirmation would be helpful. Thank you in advance!
