Plans to EOL Onboarding and Checklist Tasks?

According to information by the end of 2021 Journeys will be replacing the Onboarding and Checklist Tasks apps.

Does this mean that Onboarding and Checklist Tasks will be removed 'forcibly', for lack of a better term? In other words, will they be replaced and removed from the product, or remain an option as standard?
