Is it possible to have a position change action that will create a new assignment number?

Hello experts,

we have this issue when we enabled the Assignment Level Security where we can't now see the history of the employee when the employee takes up new position.

We would like to know if it is possible to have a position change action that will create a new assignment number? This is in the hope that, when this position change happens and a new assignment is created, then the history remains with the HR of the old assignment, in this case, Previous HRs will be able to view their responsibility assignment while the new HR will only be able to see the new assignment.
